Shadow and the Body

16 Let no one, then, be judging you
in food or in drink
or in the particulars of a festival,
or of a new moon, or of sabbaths,
17 which are a shadow
of those things which are impending –
yet the body is the Christ’s

Paul in Colossians 2

Paul describes in Colossians 2, that any rituals which God ever gave to Israel (circumcision, baptism, kosher food and drink, feasts, Sabbaths) were a shadow of things to come.

In themselves, they were obscure and meaningless, but the contours testified of what was coming. Not only “of Christ” but (note) of “the body of Christ,” the ecclesia (Col.1:18,24)!

With this, Paul indicates that the ecclesia is not SUBJECTED, but is THE SUBJECT of the shadows! The shadows had as purpose to point forward to Christ including His body. How foolish, therefore, is the idea that the body of Christ would be subordinate to the shadows.
